Every message in the console creates a version. You can go back to any of them at any time, for free.
Say "go back to the version before checkout" or open the version list at the top of the console and choose one. The preview and the code switch to that version immediately. Nothing is charged.
It does not refund the credits spent on later versions. It does not delete them either; you can go forward again.
If you have connected GitHub, every version is a commit in your repository with the same message you typed.
