Quiny runs on credits. We chose credits over a monthly fee because most of our customers build one app, change it a few times a year, and should not pay for months in which nothing happens. Here is exactly how they work.
You can reach the first finished screen without spending a single credit, because nothing is charged until Quiny starts building.
Building does. Drawing a screen for the first time, rebuilding a screen after you ask for a change, and running the whole app pass before submission. The console shows an estimate before every one of these steps and asks you to approve it.
| Step | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| A new screen at standard effort | 15 to 25 credits |
| A new screen at high effort | 30 to 45 credits |
| Changing part of an existing screen | 6 to 12 credits |
| Switching design direction after screens exist | about 40 credits |
| Whole app review before submission | 20 to 30 credits |
Effort is chosen by Quiny for each step and shown to you. Careful work like checkout runs at high effort. Copy changes run at standard.
Most first apps use between 120 and 260 credits from first sentence to submission. We tell people to budget 300, which leaves room for changing your mind about a screen or two.
If a step fails, its credits come back automatically. If a step finishes but the result is wrong, flag it in the console. A person reads every flag, and when the mistake was ours the credits are refunded, usually within a day. Some flags turn out to be a misunderstanding rather than a fault, and in those cases we explain why and often fix the underlying question instead.
Going back does not refund. Restoring version 23 is free, but the credits spent on version 24 stay spent. You paid for the work, not the outcome.
Design direction changes are the expensive one. Switching from the minimal look to the bold one after five screens exist means rebuilding all five. Quiny warns you and shows the total first.
Pro and Max plans exist for people who build a lot or want to pin a specific model. They are bundles of credits at a lower unit price plus the pinning control. Nothing on them is required to ship an app.
Purchased credits do not expire while your account is open.
